What is the market for the book? We hope that the book will appeal to anyone that enjoys movies, but we have intentionally tried to keep the stories short so they will appeal to travelers (airplane, train, etc) looking for something interesting to read while they travel.

As a screenwriter trying to break into the business, what does the book do for me? A lot!  The Read-A-Movie series books allow screenwriters to tell their wonderful stories to the public in a form (short story) that typical readers of fiction can digest. It creates a secondary market for screenplays. It also puts your screenplay in the print media so possible producers can read it (Producers travel too) .

What about my rights to the screenplay, how are they affected? They are NOT affected.  You retain the rights to your screenplay. As a screenwriter, Jack Young, has ensured that the contract protects the screenwriter.

What does your company get from this. I guess I mean, why are you doing this? As a screenwriter and producer, Jack Young, understands the dilemma with getting a screenplay produced.  It’s difficult if not near impossible. This book hopes to break down some barriers between the writer and Hollywood. We bring your story to the American people and let them be the judge on whether it would make a good movie. We’re doing this to bring entertaining stories to the people and at the same time create a revenue stream from a new market approach. Whether we make movies or books, we want to entertain the American people with the best stories we can find.  And maybe in that process, help you get your film made.

How can I get my screenplay into the book? It’s easy. Read the “Submissions” page to see if you quality. Then you submit the screenplay in softcopy format (RTF is preferred) along with a release form to us.  We’ll review the screenplay and respond to you. Obviously, we can’t put every screenplay into our books, since we are limited to how many stories the book will contain and the number of books we publish yearly, but if we find your screenplay interesting and well written, we will contact you and work out the details.

How do you select what stories will appear in the book? The story editor and other Young Film staff  members review each script and evaluate it for publication. Stories are selected for entertainment value and selected for our books series either in a category or genre specific series.
